Marianela Pérez’s solo exhibition Lemonade Berry opened on October 5, 2023, at MIFA Gallery Miami. The collection brings together paintings, collages, and three-dimensional works inspired by a vivid encounter with a lemonade berry bush near the artist’s home in Boca Raton, Florida. From this chromatic intervention, Pérez explored the symbolic resonance of trees—both in her personal life and across cultural traditions, including those of her native Venezuela.
Curated by Félix Suazo, the exhibition reflects on the strength and energy of trees as archetypal symbols of life. Suazo describes the works as balancing “chromatic expansiveness and structural rigor,” where dislocated forms, sharp vertices, lines, transparencies, and raw surfaces unfold as fragments of a greater whole—a visual evocation of the tree of life.
