Today we’d like to introduce you to Marianela Perez G.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Caracas Venezuela. I graduated as a Commercial Artist at Endicott College Massachusetts and environmental design in Caracas Venezuela. I grew up surrounded by a colorful and tropical atmosphere, which Inspired me from a very young age to the pursuit of color and the curiosity for form and aesthetics making evident my inclination for art. I studied photography in a prestigious school in Venezuela and had the opportunity to Paint with different national and international creators. As an artist, I have experimented with different media, transforming the images of urban space and everyday objects into a magical space, transfiguring the visible in the abstract, the noise in music, the cloudy in illumination and reflection.
My current work in painting express the nature of color the abstract and fractal geometry, my inspiration comes from the joy of life and freedom. I have been a participant in shows and exhibitions as well as art fair in Miami, Boca Raton West Palm Beach, New York, London, and Venezuela.
Please tell us about your art.
My work is a visual experience of reflections and colors within my everyday life, motivated by the abstraction of space. The urban landscape turns, it moves and maintains a pace, always orbiting in the space where the objects are arranged, leaving some anchor point. I’m building, and at the same time, the work becomes a significant challenge. I interpret the chaos as something transitory in the form of triangles, as fragments of crystals of colors that burst, that move, and float in space.
The color palette is incorporated by attaching to a visual vocabulary, as well as match the perception of the environment and become part of a chromatic choreography. Photography has been crucial because I started out with one image as a reflection of another. I modified it looking for the simplification of lines, shapes, and colors. This is how I get to the geometric abstraction in painting.
The fractal figure of a triangle acute rotating its vertex and joins with the complementary to form volume, in harmony with the color forms to enter and leave the canvas. This set of non-identical fractals are similar in their complexity and engage the change of scale to make the work with artistic intention. I raise the concept of time and space, the color and the shape in other dimensions capturing movement where all reality coexist.
What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think the best that cities can do is to encourage and help artist by promoting events and shows for artist free of charge. About the conditions of artists today, there is a lot of competition, which is good since each artist must have their own solid proposal. Every work has its difficulties and responsibilities, but I think that every artist has the opportunity to send a positive message to the world.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
